bug: 'else' without braces but several lines indented (#41)

* bug: 'else' without braces but several lines indented

* always set previousIndex in Render::updateBuffer()

As discussed in #41, the previous index was meant to be
updated in every case, but the faulty indentation
suggested another behavior.
